ELLSWORTH – Some exciting news for The Grand Theater in Ellsworth. They are getting ready to premiere its new projector.
“We’re very close to seeing this,” said Carla Haskell, the president of the board of directors for The Grand.
It has been in the works for years and now it’s time to bring movies to life on their new digital projector. The current projector has been failing due to room environment – but after some investigating and heavy thinking, they decided it was time to give customers the perfect experience.
“This will be such an enhanced experience for the community that will stimulate a lot of new patrons to the grand,” said Haskell.
They are hosting a premiere on February 11th, where community members can enjoy a free 3D showing of the movie up.
“Hopefully the community will be really excited as we are,” she said, “To be able to see a 3D presentation here – it’s a movie that really appeals to all generations. It’s such a great fit for our grand opening.”
But with new technology comes costs. They have been fundraising for some time and are still in need of support from the community.
“We are $11,000 away from our goal,” said Haskell, “We had $165,000 to raise. We are $11,000 away, so we are still fundraising. We hope that gap narrows as February 11th comes.”
