AUGUSTA – It’s National School Choice Week.
Charter schools from across the State of Maine were on display in the State House’s Hall of Flags Monday. It was one of more than 21,000 similar events held around the nation.
The event is held to let parents know what choices they have when it comes to their children’s education.
Senator Eric Brakey, R-Auburn, said “School choice is so important to Maine people because of every child learns differently. And to have a one-size-fits-all model for every child is going to end up leaving some children behind.”
Students and teachers from Maine’s nine charter schools also talked with legislators about the benefits offered by school choice.
