MACHIAS – It appears changes are coming to the University of Maine at Machias.
Officials are meeting Monday to discuss whether the school should be absorbed by the flagship university in Orono.
The UMaine Board of Trustees is trying to find ways to resolve financial challenges and a lower enrollment at the Machias Campus.
Officials have been studying ways to help the smaller school succeed and plans to roll out the recommendations during a day long meeting today.
The university in Machias has faced budget shortfalls in recent years and a 20 percent decline in enrollment.
