WATERVILLE – A fire in Waterville sent seven people to the hospital earlier today, including one of the firefighters rescuing two people stuck inside.
Firefighters received a call at 10 am Wednesday in Waterville reporting a fire on Summer Street, and six were people stuck inside.
Waterville Fire Captain John Gromek said “When we got there our first plan was to get the two people on the balcony down.”
The four other people were able to make it out on there own, but all six were transported to the hospital with minor injuries, but soon after a firefighter would join them.
The investigator said they’re still looking for a cause for the fire, but the detection of the fire is certain.
Captain Gromek stated “They had taken the batteries out of the smoke detectors.”
