CANAAN – A 17 year old is facing numerous charges after allegedly shooting at a home in Canaan. Dispatchers were on the phone with the homeowner when three shots were fired Friday night.
It happened on the Mud Run Road.
According to officials three juveniles were at the residence when the homeowner and her boyfriend returned. From there, there was some kind of confrontation. That’s when two of the boys left the residence.
One left the scene for good and the second allegedly returned later, firing shots while the family including six children were inside.
Somerset County Sheriff Dale Lancaster stated “Whenever you introduce gunfire and you don’t know where that gunfire is going, there are unattended consequences that could be extreme, they are serious and it could hurt some innocent people.”
Police said the shots hit windows in the living room and kitchen. The third hit a bedroom wall.
Luckily, no one was injured.
That 17 year old is facing charges of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and failure to submit to arrest.
We’re told the investigation is in its early stages and ongoing.
