KATAHDIN REGION – We’re going to be seeing a lot of snow within the next couple of days. While some people aren’t looking forward to that, people in the Katahdin Region know it will help the upcoming Winterfest.
It all starts next Wednesday in East Millinocket with snow carving.
If that’s not enough, on Friday, the 17th at 6 p.m., People will be gathering at Stearns High School for a snowmobile parade. It starts on groomed trail and people will get to ride on some antiques.
Organizer Steve Campbell stated “It’s a lot of history, major history, especially in today’s world with the downfall of the mills. It’s our economy pretty much – it’s the biggest part of our economy, winter tourism – skiing, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, snowmobiling. This club handles all three of them.”
On the following Saturday, there will be an antique and vintage sled show, and a children’s day at Jerry Pond.
