OLD TOWN – Folks in Old Town took advantage of the snow this weekend.
The Third Annual Winter Fun Day wrapped up Saturday afternoon at the Hirundo Wildlife Refuge.
Around 200 people enjoyed events like cross-country skiing, curling and dog sledding.
Despite the cold weather organizers are thrilled with the turnout.
Trustee Bucky Owens said “Most people, I think, have never had a dog sled ride, so that’s real special for them. And the curling was fun. I threw my first stone, if you will, in my life, and I put it in the ring. So I quit right there, I didn’t go any further.”
Even though events have ended, visitors are encouraged to use the land at the refuge year-round.
