WINSLOW – A Fairfield police K9 has been quarantined after biting the infant child of the dog’s handler late last week.
Police said the incident happened at the home of Officer Jordan Brooks who lives in Winslow. He and his wife were home when the dog bit the baby, causing puncture marks and bruised ribs. She was taken to the Waterville hospital before being transferred to the neonatal unit at Eastern Maine Medical Center.
The dog, named Rex, is new to the department and was scheduled to begin training this month.
Rex is currently quarantined in Waterville and officials are deciding how to proceed.
