BANGOR – They help attract more visitors to the Bangor region to spark economic activity.
That’s why the Bangor Convention and Visitors Bureau has selected them as recipients of this years “Tourism and Hospitality Eagle Awards.” The awards are given to those who help put the Bangor area on the map.
Among those being awarded this year are the “Maine Whoopie Pie Festival” and Carolyn Ouellette who received the award for individual achievement for her work at the Maine Office of Tourism.
The GBCVB is also presenting the lifetime achievement award to Dick Stacey and Stacey’s Country Jamboree for shining a spotlight on the area for so many years.
GBCVB Chair Ristenn Barr said “Every year it’s always so inspiring to see who we have to choose from in our region. We get to celebrate those who have been part of our heritage, our success and the strength of the region.”
The awards will be presented during the “Annual Tourism Awards” event and silent auction on May 16 at The Lucerne Inn.
Contact the Greater Bangor Convention and Visitors Bureau for tickets or to nominate someone for the tourism employee of the year or the spirit of hospitality award.
