BANGOR – A man once accused of trying to kill his estranged wife and her boyfriend is facing new charges Monday morning.
Ryan Witmer, 40, was arrested following an incident around 1:00 a.m..
A woman called police to report she had been in a verbal argument with her husband which had turned into a physical altercation. There’s also word that a weapon was involved, but police haven’t released additional details.
He’s now charged with aggravated assault, domestic violence criminal threatening, domestic violence terrorizing, domestic violence reckless conduct, and domestic violence assault.
Witmer was charged with attempted murder in 2008 after he went to the Orrington home where his estranged wife was staying and got into an altercation with her and her boyfriend.
He stabbed the boyfriend numerous times in the back, but was later acquitted after claiming he was defending himself.
More details on the new charges should be released later Monday.
