FREEPORT TO BOWDOINHAM – During the height of Tuesday’s storm all driving along one stretch of highway came to a stand still even for plow trucks.
The Department of Transportation said the storm caused people to became stranded on I-295 in both directions between Freeport and Bowdoinham.
A spokesperson for the DOT stated the white out conditions forced them to take some of the plows out clearing the snow and DOT vehicles off the road.
DOT spokesman Ted Talbot stated “We never anticipate pulling plow off the road we never anticipate that type of intensity, but if we encounter it we need to react and sometimes conditions win out, as they did for a time yesterday.”
The DOT added they were glad to see how many drivers took the weather warnings seriously and stayed off the road.
