JACKMAN – Fire crews were called back to a house fire in Jackman this morning after some of the rubble rekindled.
The original fire was reported around noon Sunday when a neighbor spotted flames coming from a home on Mill Road.
A photo taken by the Jackman and Moose River Fire Department shows what crews were facing when they arrived on the scene.
Officials said the home was purchased this winter by a couple from Alfred that planned to make it their retirement home. The owner had been at the home doing some work over the weekend and had left about a half hour before the fire was reported.
The state fire marshal’s office is now looking for the cause.
The owner says the home was insured.
Fire crews were called back to the scene this morning to douse hot spots.
