NEW PORTLAND – A high speed police chase ends with a young woman going to jail.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office reports it was 12:17 p.m. Tuesday when a deputy spotted a BMW SUV traveling more than 30 miles over the speed limit in Farmington.
The deputy tried to stop the vehicle on Route 27, but the driver sped off. The chase continued through several towns and on several roadways, reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour.
It finally ended in the town of New Portland when a deputy deployed a device to flatten the vehicles tires.
The driver has been identified as Carter Sides, 23, who moved to Stratton from Alabama.
She’s now facing numerous charges including driving to endanger, eluding an officer and criminal speeding. She’s also charged with theft by unauthorized use of property because she didn’t have permission to drive the vehicle she was using.
