BANGOR – A Husson University student has been charged with gross sexual assault after admitting to sexually assaulting an unconscious woman.
Husson spokesperson Eric Gordon confirmed the Old Town Police Department is investigating Zachary Comeau, 21, for an incident which took place off campus.
According to the “Bangor Daily News” the assault took place on March 18th police arrested Comeau after he admitted to climbing on-top of a 20-year-old woman while she was sleeping. The woman reporting Comeau had removed her pants before waking up next to him on a couch.
Comeau went to the Old Town Police Station on March 20th where he was later arrested. He is now facing felony sexual assault charges, if convicted he could spend up to 10-years in prison and a fine of up to $20,000.
He’s since been released on $2,500 bail.
In his email Gordon said the university is cooperating fully with law enforcement. He said the school is taking appropriate interim measures and that an internal investigation into the alleged incident has begun.
