BANGOR – Penobscot County now has a purchase agreement for the former Bangor YMCA building on Hammond Street.
The county has signed a contract with hopes of closing on the sale by April 18th.
It plans to use the building to help ease overcrowding at the nearby county jail.
Not everyone is happy about the deal, including Young’s MMA and the City Reach Church which will be displaced by the sale.
The church was also trying to raise money to buy the building to expand the services it offers.
The price of the sale to the county is $825,000.
