LEWISTON (WGME) – The mother of a Lewiston boy killed in a cross walk said she’s upset the driver is denying the allegations.
Kellie Foley was in court Wednesday as Laurie Young, 54, faced a judge.
Investigators said Young hit and killed Jayden Cho Sargent when the teen was crossing Main Street on his way to school back in November.
Young won’t be criminally charged in the case. Instead she’ll face a civil violation.
Wednesday Young told the judge she understood the charge, but is denying the allegations against her.
Foley said a civil charge isn’t enough for the death of her son. She added she’s upset the woman behind the wheel claims she’s not at fault.
Foley stated “If she’s not guilty Jayden would still be here, obviously she’s guilty because if she’s not guilty then Jayden would not be here. Obviously shes guilty because I’m holding his picture I’m wearing his ashes how is that not guilty.”
Young is scheduled to be back in court in June.
Young’s lawyer said they are not commenting at this time.
