BANGOR – A man from Brewer received his sentence today for violating federal firearms laws.
Walter Botelho, 52, was ordered to serve two and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
He was arrested in May after Brewer Police searched a home on North Main Street as part of a methamphetamine investigation.
Police said they found evidence of meth making in the home, along with two rifles and a pair of shotguns.
Botelho was prohibited from owning guns following previous convictions for manslaughter in New York, receiving stolen goods in Rhode Island and assault in battery in Massachusetts.
Along with serving the sentence for the firearms violations, he also has been indicted on state charges of aggravated operation of a meth lab.
