BANGOR – It’s that time of year when many people are thinking about making improvements to their homes and the City of Bangor wants to help.
The city still has money left in the “Energy Smart Bangor” program that can be used for everything from adding insulation to installing a new heating system.
More than $100,000 in rebates have been given out since the project was launched in July.
Bangor has one of the oldest housing stocks in the state and this is a great way to make local homes more energy efficient.
Council Chair Joe Baldacci stated “This is a win win for homeowners. Over 250 Bangor homeowner’s have received rebates already. We add up to $500 dollars per household to whatever the state provides. We’re the only city in the state that provides this.”
Homeowners who qualify for the Efficiency Maine Home Energy Savings Program also qualify for Energy Smart Bangor.
The amount of rebate varies by project, but in many cases can nearly double the amount offered by Efficiency Maine.
