NATIONWIDE – J. Geils founder of the J. Geils band known for early 80’s pop hits has died in his Groton, Massachusetts home.
Police responded to Geils home around 4 p.m. Tuesday for a well-being check and found him unresponsive. He was pronounced dead of natural causes at the scene.
Based in Boston, the J. Geils band played at the old Bangor Auditorium a few times in the early 1970’s before they hit the big time with songs like Love Stinks, Freeze Frame and Centerfold.
Geils was 71.
