LEWISTON – It’s a picture that brought tears to our eyes. A Lewiston woman is reunited with her dog after it spent weeks outside during rain and snow.
Katelyn Hartzell said her dog, Bruin, ran off about a month ago. Hartzell put up hundreds of flyers and had an entire community on the lookout.
Maine Lost Dog Recovery gave her a “game camera” and when a stranger said she had spotted Bruin, they set it up in her neighborhood.
They also set up a humane trap, which bruin walked right into yesterday evening, four weeks after he disappeared.
Hartzell stated “I just miss him, he’s my best friend and I want him to be happy and healthy again and I know it’s not my fault, but I can’t believe he was missing for four weeks. I know, you love mama, you’re not mad at me.”
Hartzell said Bruin is very skinny and malnourished, but her vet says a special diet should help with that.
Hartzell also said she never gave up, and wants to thank the community and Maine Lost Dog Recovery for helping her reunite with Bruin.
