AUGUSTA – The race for Maine Governor is now underway, with a few making the announcement they’re going to run.
Maine State Treasurer, Terry Hayes became the first to officially declare her candidacy. The 58-year old is an Independent candidate from Buckfield.
She’s served four terms as a Democrat in the Maine House of Representatives, but became an independent to pick up republican support when she was in the running for treasurer.
Republican Deril Stubenrod and Democrat Patrick Eisenhart also announced they’re going to run.
Other candidates considering a run during the 2018 race include Maine Republican Senator Susan Collins, Department of Health and Human Services Commissioner Mary Mayhew and former Republican Party Chair Rick Bennett.
