ORONO – University of Maine Orono students built a wall today on campus, then proceeded to tear it down.
The wall sent messages about today’s world, saying things such as “Books not Bombs” or “Human Need, Not Greed.”
And once it was put up, it was torn right down. The idea is to tear down the walls of oppression.
One student stated “People care about these things, they’re really important. They should not be overlooked or swept under the rug.”
“I don’t think its our place to get involved in the affairs of sovereign nations and I don’t think its right for us to be involved in regime changes.” added another.
The event was put on by the Maine Peace Action Committee and was open to all students who wished to send a message.
