AUGUSTA – Several weeks ago a bill was introduced to ban plastic shopping bags.
Another bill was also introduced to ban Styrofoam food and beverage containers.
Those bills morphed into a bill recommending recycling of both those products.
Senator Tom Saviello, R-Wilton, said “This all deals again with us recognizing that we want to recycle land reuse as much as we can. And also recognizing that there are still people who use plastic bags and Styrofoam cups and so forth.”
The House of Representatives approved the recycling resolution earlier this month. The senate is expected act on the measure with in the next several days.
