HOLDEN – Police are still investigating the cause on an accident in Holden that left one person dead Thursday afternoon.
Derick Warren, 30, of Orland was killed in the accident.
Officials said several crews responded to Route 1A in front of Maine Military Supply just after 4:30 p.m. And the road was closed for several hours as they worked to figure out what happened.
Holden Police Chief Chris Greeley said “The accident is still under investigation but the cause may have been one vehicle crossing into the other lane. It involved a car and a tractor trailer truck.”
Police said the car Warren was driving hit the truck near the rear wheel when the truck tried to avoid the car. The impact caused his car to spin around and hit a second car. The driver of the truck and the second car were not hurt.
Police want to remind people to drive safely, follow the speed limit and to put away all distractions while behind the wheel.
