ORONO – Early Sunday, students, faculty and community members came together as part of the “National March for Science.”
The march on the UMaine campus was one of 500 around the nation. People came together to honor the international science community and to draw attention to the trump administration’s proposed cuts of multiple scientific committees.
Jayson Peltier, Wildlife Ecology student said “I feel there’s a huge awareness factor with the marches that are happening. It may not be impacting politics that much, but the common general public is getting awareness of it and they’re seeing people care.”
In marching, the UMaine science community hopes to raise awareness about the importance of research and development to society.
