BANGOR – A woman accused of helping the murder suspect make his getaway, is now facing her own legal troubles.
Cindy McVicar, 45, of Lincoln is charged with hindering apprehension and made her first court appearance Monday afternoon.
McVicar was arrested last Friday in connection with an Easter Sunday shooting death on Ohio Street in Bangor. Police said Antoine Bethea killed Terrance Durel Senior, 36, who was visiting from New Orleans.
Authorities have impounded court records and have refused to release information about McVicar’s alleged involvement. But it became clear in court Monday she’s accused of giving Bethea a ride to Portland after the alleged murder.
The prosecutor says McVicar continued to help Bethea even after learning about the shooting. She’s also accused of lying to police while being interviewed, only coming clean when they provided evidence she couldn’t dispute.
McVicar was ordered held on $30,000 bail.
The manhunt for Bethea continues and police are looking at other states.
