BANGOR – The American Folk Festival is still a few months away, but the fun is already getting underway.
The organizers are getting ready for the Annual Color Bangor Run to raise money for the festival. It will all take place on Saturday, May 13th on the Bangor Waterfront.
It’s a 5K fun run in which you can either run or walk, knowing you’ll be pelted with colorful powder along the way.
Organizer Heather McCarthy said “As you go through the route, at every 1K mark there’s a different color station where you get pelted with all kinds of color.”
And it’s really just a bag of colored corn starch. .
McCarthy added “It’s corn starch, not going to hurt you. But between the time you start with your white tee-shirt and when you take a shower it’s a fun colorful mess.”
This is one of the big fundraisers that helps keep the American Folk Festival admission free each year.
The cost is $50 dollars and you can register by visiting americanfolkfestival.com.
The organizers are also offering a special discount for mothers who take part in the race with their kids.
