WASHINGTON – Congressman Bruce Poliquin cleared up the mystery on how he’ll be voting on the GOP healthcare plan.
He told WVII in a conference call this afternoon he’ll be among those voting in favor of the plan today in Washington.
There are concerns the replacement for Obamacare would harm those with preexisting conditions, but Poliquin says that isn’t so. He tells us it wont have an impact on 93 percent of Mainer’s. Those who rely on Mainecare and other programs will still be able to get it. He says it will only impact the 7 percent of Mainer’s who subscribe to Obamacare.
He says those people are already struggling because of high premiums and he believes the new plan will also make it more affordable for them.
Other members of Maine’s Congressional Delegation say they’re opposed to the new plan. There’s also concern among those who staged a rally outside Congressman Poliquin’s office in Bangor this afternoon. They’ve been urging him to vote no.
We’ll hear from all sides on the issue during tonight’s newscasts.
