A legislative committee has approved a bill that would reinstate the tip credit for those who rely on tips to make a living.
The tip credit was removed as part of a vote in November that raised Maine’s minimum wage.
Members of the restaurant industry saying that’s causing some employees to earn much less and urged lawmakers to reinstate the credit.
Members of the Labor, Commerce, Research and Cconomic Development Committee voted in favor of the repeal today by a vote of 11-2. .
It now heads to the senate for consideration. .
