AUGUSTA – A new bill is being proposed in Augusta to help attract the film industry to the state.
If approved the bill would provide refunds for companies that produce films in Maine.
Supporters say Maine can’t currently compete with other states in the industry and this would be a chance to showcase Maine and bring in money.
Senator Susan Deschambault, D-York, said “There’s sections of Maine that no one has seen in other parts of the country and it is, again, the economic stimulus of bringing people jobs.”
The bill is being worked through committees and should hit the senate floor in June.
