SHERMAN – Two men from Sherman are facing felony theft charges following an investigation by Maine State Police.
According to police, 42-year-old Larry Morgan and 36-year-old Chris McNally were both arrested in connection with an incident Thursday morning.
State Police say someone called them to report the catalytic converter had been cut from his vehicle.
An investigation led police to McNally’s home on North Street.
According to a press release, footprints were found leaving the rear of the residence, and a State Police K-9 team tracked the suspects to a point on a nearby roadway where police believe they were picked up.
McNally eventually returned to the residence and was arrested. Police say he had been out on probation for a drug possession charge.
Police say Morgan had a warrant from Penobscot County for drug possession. Authorities reportedly found Morgan at a nearby friend’s residence, where he was also arrested on the theft charge.
Both were taken to the Aroostook County Jail.
Authorities say they had recently seen a rise in property crimes, including burglaries and thefts, this week in Easton and Castle Hill.
