BANGOR – A Connecticut couple accused of robbing two Bangor businesses in two days, made their first appearance in court Tuesday.
Cara and Seth Blewitt heard from a judge Tuesday afternoon at the Penobscot Judicial Center.
They were arrested Monday afternoon for robbing the TD Bank on Stillwater Avenue on Sunday. They then robbing the Dollar Tree right up the road on Monday.
Lawyers for both say they have no criminal record, and Cara Blewitt said she was seeking rehabilitation. But, the judge was not swayed.
Honrable Bruce Jordan said “To go straight to class A robbery, which is leveling a gun at somebody in order to make them give you their money, using the amount of force he deemed necessary. They planned this out, it’s clear that some thought went into this.”
The Blewitt’s are each being held on $50,000 bail, and are not allowed to contact each other. They also cannot carry weapons or enter either business they’re accused of robbing.
The case will be reviewed by a grand jury before going to trial.
