KABUL, AFGHANISTAN (ABC NEWS) – The death toll continues to rise following a powerful explosion Wednesday morning in Kabul, Afghanistan.
The blast rocked a highly secure diplomatic area, sending up a huge plume of smoke over the nations capital.
The explosion killed at least 80 people and wounded more than 350.
It happened near the German Embassy which is about a mile away from the U.S. Embassy. Officials said it was a suicide car bombing, although the target of the attack is still unknown.
It’s one of the worst attacks Kabul has seen since the draw-down of U.S. forces at the end of 2014.
