ORONO – Kids in Orono on Sunday got to learn the rules of the road… on their bicycles, that is.
The Penobscot County United Bikers of Maine and the Orono Police Department hosted the Ride Safe Rodeo, where kids were taught how to ride their bikes safely.
Kids pedaled through a closed-traffic skills course while learning how to obey traffic signs.
“We’re trying to help deter any injuries, or anything like that to try to get them more, you know, in control of what they’re doing,” said John Rogerson, the county director of the United Bikers of Maine.
The rodeo also included a helmet check and a bike check. Free helmets were given to any child who did not have one.
