MONROE – A small earthquake was reported in the town of Monroe Wednesday morning.
The Weston Observatory in Massachusetts says a 2.1 magnitude earthquake was recorded around 6:30 a.m. between Dollof hill and the Jackson road just north of the post office.
Witnesses say they heard noises that sound like an explosion.
The Waldo County Emergency Management Agency also says residents around Winterport and Frankfort heard earth rumblings around 6:35 a.m. Wednesday morning.
There have been no reports of injuries or structural damage.
