AUGUSTA – The State of Maine has the lowest unemployment rate since World War II.
The good news is more people are working.
The bad news the Maine State Department of Labor has to lay off 10 people whose jobs were to help people find jobs.
DOL Julie Rabinowitz said “There’s just not enough work for them to do with such a low volume of unemployment, especially in the summer.”
The three percent unemployment rate is a 32-year low.
Employees with seniority will have the option of bumping less senior workers.
