BANGOR – It’s officially tart season. The strawberries are ripe and they have started making tarts at Frank’s Bakery in Bangor.
The owners say the tasty treats are flying out the door but this is just the beginning.
Owner Bernadette Gaspar said “It’s a forerunner to raspberry and then blueberry tarts. Everybody loves it. It’s a fun thing.”
The owners estimate they should be making raspberry tarts around mid July which is when the berries are usually ready and they should be doing blueberry tarts around the middle of August.
They estimate they will make somewhere on the order of 5,000 to 6,000 tarts before the end of the season.
