BANGOR-A man who helped modernize the local hospital system has announced his retirement.
Dan Coffey has worked in the Eastern Maine Healthcare System since 1976 and has served most recently as president of Acadia Hospital.
Officials say his work ethic, intelligence and keen analytic skills were quickly recognized and he went on to hold a number of positions throughout the years.
EMHS CEO Michelle Hood released a statement saying “Coffey will be remembered for the significant turnaround at Acadia Hospital under his leadership”.
“Transforming it into a fiscally sound, innovative psychiatric hospital”.
Coffey plans to retire at the end of September.
