CARIBOU – Jury selection begins today for a Florida man accused of killing a friend in Aroostook County.
The body of Leo Corriveau, 86, was found in the backyard of his Presque Isle home last July. He had been strangled.
Robert Craig, 81, of Clearwater, Florida is accused of committing the crime.
Craig had traveled with Corriveau from Florida to Maine earlier that month and had been staying with him at his home.
Police believe he murdered him following a dispute and then fled back to Florida where he was arrested several days later.
Craig was expected to plea guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter, but he rejected the deal.
The trial will begin once a jury is seated.
