BANGOR – An elusive children’s book icon is reaching a milestone this month and Bangor businesses are encouraging families to help celebrate.
“Where’s Waldo” turns 30 at the end of the month.
In the spirit of the hide-and-seek character, miniature Waldo’s and his girlfriend Wenda are hiding in 25 businesses around downtown.
Searchers mark down each find in a passport, and are entered to win prizes based on how many Waldos they find.
“They love it. They run all around downtown. It’s somewhat scary because they are on a mission.” said Alexandra Hickson with her son Nate. She added “It’s been a blast. We love it. It’s out first year where Nate’s really been old enough to get it.”
Folks looking for Waldo have until July 30th to turn in their passports,
And there will be a massive birthday party for the striped traveler on that day.
