LINCOLN – Lincoln police state that standoff is now over. One suspect is in custody and there are no injuries. We will have more as our crews are in the area.
The the man is charged with two counts of sexual assault on minors as well as creating a police standoff situation.
New details emerging from a police standoff in Lincoln as authorities remain on scene Tuesday morning.Police are now saying William Bradbury of Lincoln is holding himself up inside of his home on West Broadway after Lincoln police went there Monday morning to serve him an arrest warrant for sexual abuse of a minor.
During that visit police also escorted a woman to pick up some belongings before things turned dangerous.
Police are not saying much about what happened in the home, but state police and the Penobscot County Sheriffs office were called in as backup.
A tactical team and crime negotiations unit has also been called in and we are told they have been able to make contact with Bradbury.
“He does have weapons in the house,” says Daniel A. Summers, Lincoln Public Safety Director. “Earlier on today, officers observed just a dangerous situation, they backed it out, there is confirmed weapons in the house.”
Several nearby homes have been evacuated and the Penobscot Valley Hospital was placed on lock-down due to its close proximity to the scene.
Police also say a woman has been taken to Penobscot Valley Hospital in connection the standoff, but she has no physical injuries.
A stretch of Route 2 near the scene has been blocked off since 1 p.m. Monday.
The standoff has been going on for more than 12 hours authorities say the scene is still active.
