PORTLAND – The Harold Alfond Foundation has announced a $7.5 million grant to the University of Maine System.
The grant will support the Maine Center for International Studies by combining the University of Maine and the University of Southern Maine Masters in Business Administration programs into a single MBA program.
It will also bring the university of Southern Maine Muskie School of Public Service graduate programs and its Cutler Institute for Health and Social Policy together.
It’s the largest private gift for a multi-campus effort in the history of the system.
The hope is to attract and keep more students in Maine, while also building the economy by encouraging them to keep their careers in state.
