AUGUSTA – An apology from the South Portland representative who went on a Facebook tirade last week against President Donald Trump isn’t good enough for at least one member of the legislature.
Last week, Speaker of the House Sara Gideon removed Democrat Representative Scott Hamann from legislative committees.
Thursday, Hamann issued a public apology to the entire House of Representatives.
However, as far as Republican Representative Larry Lockman is concerned Hamann needs to be expelled from the House.
Representative Lawrence Lockman, R-Amherst, said “What I heard on the floor of the house this morning was not an apology. It was Representative Hamann playing the victim card. And he remains defiant after his angry, homicidal rant on Facebook. He needs to resign. If he doesn’t resign we need to expel him.”
As of late Thursday afternoon, the House of Representatives had not voted on Lockman’s resolution. We’re told the House of Representatives the was expected to vote on it Thursday.
