BANGOR – Friday morning, 24 people from 15 countries became American citizens.
During a ceremony at the Margaret Chase Smith Federal Building in Bangor, Federal Judge John Woodcock administered the oath of allegiance to the two dozen people. After they were sworn as citizens the judge led the new citizens in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
Ireland native Brian Redmond said “I feel very emotional. And very proud. And it’s a day for the last seven years I’ve been waiting for.”
Redmond came to America after meeting the woman who would become his wife on a cruise.
Judge Woodcock encouraged the newly-minted Americans to share their culture and their recipes as they blend in with their communities.
