MILFORD – It was a lot of backbreaking work, but fire crews have snuffed out a stubborn wildfire in Milford.
Fire crews from several departments spent the weekend trying to douse flames that erupted in a wooded area off Kingsbury Road.
They were joined by Maine Forest Rangers who helped battle the fire from land and from the sky. Helicopters were also used to transport people and equipment to the fire which burned about five acres.
According to Milford chief, Chris Matson, three fire fighters remained on the scene today to wrap up 2,500 feet of hose and four pumps.
He said they’ll be keeping an eye on the location the next few days, but believes the flames are out.
