BREWER – A group that helps laid off workers and others facing hard times needs some assistance to help make their work possible.
Food and Medicine is holding an their annual auction on August 12th. It’s a big fundraiser for the organization that provided Thanksgiving meal baskets to more than 1,300 Maine families last year.
Auction Chairman Kevin Gregory said “We have a lot of gift certificates. We have a lot of autographed stuff the celtics sent. The Patriots sent an autographed Rob Gronkowski football. We have baseball from the Red Sox.”
Food and Medicine is still looking for other donated items to auction. They say quilts and other hand made items are very appreciated.
The auction is August 12th at the Food and Medicine building at 20 Ivers Street in Brewer. The doors open at 4 p.m. and the auction starts at 5 p.m.
Organizers said it’s a way for people to get a jump start on Christmas shopping and get a great deal while helping others at the same time.
