CAPE ELIZABETH (WGME) – The 20th Beach to Beacon 10k in Cape Elizabeth is less than week away. Sunday marked a key moment in getting the race trail ready.
Volunteer crews helped paint the starting line yesterday morning, with crews setting up near Crescent Beach State Park. Volunteers said that by the end of the day, they expect everything to be painted except for the finish line.
Paint crew members stated they are grateful to be part of the tradition, especially because many of them live in Cape Elizabeth and ran in past races.
Volunteer John Logan stated “I’ve watched this evolve, now it’s in it’s 20th year. Great event. Something that brings the community together and that the community can be really proud of. Can’t give Joanee enough credit, and the management team that puts it together.”
The race kicks off around 8 a.m. this Saturday.
