MILLINOCKET – The National Weather Service confirms a pair of tornadoes touched down over the weekend.
Both happening late Saturday night while a strong thunderstorm rolled through the area.
Officials say one touched down about two miles north of Millinocket around 11:00 Saturday night.
It was on the ground for about two and a half miles and flattened thousands of trees.
The second happened about a half hour later in Sherman and was also an EF-1 tornado with winds up around 90 to 100 miles an hour.
It destroyed the roof of a barn, a chicken coop and partially damaged the roof of another structure.
