MILLINOCKET – A little less than a year ago the non-profit group spearheading development efforts in Millinocket purchased a vacant downtown store.
Soon, there will be construction activity at the former Miller’s clothing store on Penobscot Avenue.
Our Katahdin’s Nancy Dewitt said the group recently was awarded a federal grant to eliminate mold, asbestos, and lead paint in the building.
Plus, contractors begin replacing the roof the end of this month.
The developers have a vision for the building.
Dewitt stated “The downstairs would be like a community center, with a stage in the center, tables and chairs around. And then cubicles with different small businesses, maybe a coffee shop, a book store. So that’s our vision for now.”
Dewitt said the clean up begins in October
If any business owners are interested in being part of Millinocket’s revitalization, Dewitt said to check out the Our Katahdin website.
