BREWER – A group of bikers hosted an event to benefit veterans Saturday afternoon.
The Facebook page “Maine Motorcycle Xperience” hosted it’s inaugural “Rumble on the River” bike show at High Tide in Brewer.
All proceeds from the event were donated to the Maine Veterans Project.
The group held a motorcycle contest and displayed various vendors from the community, as well as a special way to celebrate the events first year.
Doc Goodwin from the Maine Veteran’s Project said “We’re going to give a veteran a car. This is a gentleman who really needed a car and said that he was at the end of his rope. And it’s great to see so many people come out to support such an awesome cause.”
The idea for the event came from Wes Canning, a veteran himself and the founder of Maine Motorcycle Experience.
The event ran from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and it’s estimated over 400 people were in attendance.
